If you don’t watch or read anything else this week, you must watch this TED talk delivered by my educational hero Sir Ken Robinson.
The title, How to Escape Educations Death Valley, is apt. Yes it is about the US education system, but many points Sir Ken makes are extremely relevant to the current situation facing us here in New Zealand.
I won’t list those points here today. I’ll let Sir Ken do the talking.
Here’s another little something from Sir Ken Robinson that appeared in the Guardian during the week. In this article he slams UK Education Secretary Michael Gove for his various attacks on the sector in that country.
It’s comprehensive, outstanding, and makes Gove look like an ignorant ideologue.
